Celebrate the 4th of July with these festive Red, White and Blue Strawberries. Fresh strawberries dipped in smooth white chocolate and sprinkled with vibrant blue sanding sugar create a delightful and visually stunning dessert or side dish perfect for Independence Day gatherings.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 36 strawberries (about 2 pounds)

Chocolate

  • 12 oz white chocolate chips (or chopped baking chocolate bar, or white candy melts)

Decoration

  • 1/2 cup blue sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Carefully clean the strawberries under water, then pat them completely dry with paper towels to ensure the chocolate adheres properly.
  2. Melt White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate chips in a small bowl and microwave at 50% power in 30 second increments, stirring after each increment until the chocolate is completely smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Dip Strawberries: Dip each strawberry into the melted white chocolate, covering about two-thirds to three-quarters of the berry, leaving the top red part visible for a striking effect.
  4. Drain Excess Chocolate: Twist the strawberries over the bowl to let any extra white chocolate drip back into the bowl, preventing thick clumps.
  5. Apply Blue Sugar: Dip the white chocolate coated part of the strawberries about one-third to halfway up into blue sanding sugar, or alternatively sprinkle the sugar over the chocolate to create a more diffused effect without sugar clumps.
  6. Set to Harden: Lay the decorated strawberries on parchment paper or wax paper and allow them to rest at room temperature until the white chocolate hardens completely before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing.
  • Microwaving white chocolate at reduced power in intervals helps avoid burning.
  • Use parchment or wax paper to prevent sticking during chilling.
  • Blue sanding sugar adds texture and festive color, but can be substituted with colored sprinkles if desired.
  • Store finished strawberries in a cool place but consume within a day for best freshness.
