This rich and creamy hot fudge sauce is the perfect indulgent topping for ice cream, cakes, and other desserts. Made with a blend of cocoa powder, butter, sugar, and a hint of instant coffee, it offers a deep chocolate flavor enhanced by the smooth sweetness of marshmallow fluff. Ready in just 10 minutes, it’s an easy and delicious way to elevate any dessert experience.

Ingredients

Hot Fudge Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee
  • 17 ounces marshmallow fluff

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, add the sugar, heavy cream, cocoa powder, butter, salt, vanilla extract, and instant coffee, leaving out the marshmallow fluff for now.
  2. Heat and Whisk: Place the pan over medium heat. As the butter begins to melt, whisk the mixture continuously until all ingredients are fully combined and smooth.
  3. Simmer: Wait until the fudge sauce starts bubbling along the edges, then continue cooking for an additional 2 minutes while stirring every few seconds to avoid burning.
  4. Add Marshmallow Fluff: Remove the pan from heat and stir in the marshmallow fluff until it melts completely and the sauce is smooth and glossy.
  5. Cool and Serve: Allow the hot fudge sauce to cool slightly before serving to thicken slightly and enhance the flavor. Serve warm over your favorite desserts.

Notes

  • Store leftover hot fudge sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Warm gently before serving.
  • If the sauce thickens too much after refrigeration, reheat carefully over low heat while stirring to restore a pourable consistency.
  • You can adjust the instant coffee amount or omit it if you prefer a more straightforward chocolate flavor.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute butter and heavy cream with plant-based alternatives but results may vary.
  • Be careful not to overcook the sauce once bubbling to prevent burning or graininess.
