This Bread Machine Garlic Bread recipe offers a simple and hands-off way to enjoy freshly baked, flavorful garlic bread using your bread machine. With a hint of Parmesan cheese for added depth and an optional cheesy topping, this recipe produces a soft, aromatic loaf perfect as a side or snack. Elevate it further by toasting slices with butter and melted mozzarella under the broiler for a gooey, golden finish.

Ingredients

Basic Garlic Bread Dough

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast

Cheesy Garlic Bread Topping (Optional)

  • Butter (for spreading, approximately 1 tablespoon)
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese (about 1/4 cup)
  • Additional grated Parmesan cheese (about 2 tablespoons)
  • Dried parsley (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Add Ingredients to Bread Machine. Add the water, olive oil, honey, bread flour, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and active dry yeast to the bread machine’s baking pan. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended order for the ingredients to ensure proper mixing and rising.
  2. Select Bread Setting and Start. Choose the WHITE BREAD or BASIC BREAD setting on your bread machine and press START. The machine will knead, rise, and bake the garlic bread loaf automatically.
  3. Remove and Serve. Once the cycle is complete, carefully remove the loaf from the machine. Serve the bread warm as is, or let it cool before storing. The loaf yields about 1 pound.
  4. Prepare Cheesy Garlic Bread (Optional). Slice the loaf into thick pieces. Spread a small amount of butter on each slice, then top with shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and a sprinkle of dried parsley. Place the slices on a baking sheet and broil in your oven for 3-4 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  5. Storage. Store the bread wrapped at room temperature or in a plastic bag for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 4 months to preserve freshness.

Notes

  • Be sure to follow your bread machine’s instructions for the order of adding ingredients, as this can vary by brand.
  • For best results, use bread flour to achieve a good texture and rise.
  • The garlic powder adds robust flavor, but fresh minced garlic may be substituted for a stronger taste—adjust quantity accordingly.
  • The cheesy topping is optional but recommended for a delicious variation.
  • Broil the cheesy slices closely and carefully watch to prevent burning.
