Walking Banana Pudding is a fun, portable twist on the classic southern dessert. Combining instant banana pudding, sliced bananas, vanilla wafers, and whipped topping, this no-bake treat is assembled right inside mini individual bags of wafers for easy serving and mess-free enjoyment.

Ingredients

Pudding Mixture

  • 5.1 ounces box instant banana pudding mix
  • 2 cups milk

Assembly

  • 8 packages single serving mini vanilla wafers
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 8 ounces tub Cool Whip

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pudding: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the instant banana pudding mix and the milk until smooth. Let the mixture set for 5 minutes to thicken properly.
  2. Prepare the wafer bags: Cut open the tops of the individual mini vanilla wafer bags and fold the edges over to create a small pouch for easy filling.
  3. Fill the bags with pudding: Using a spoon, scoop the set pudding into each opened wafer bag, filling them about halfway.
  4. Add bananas and topping: Place sliced bananas on top of the pudding in each bag, then add a dollop of Cool Whip to finish.

Notes

  • You can substitute mini teddy graham bags instead of vanilla wafers for a different flavor, though it will alter the classic banana pudding taste.
  • Other instant pudding flavors like vanilla or chocolate can be used to change up the flavor profile.
  • If you don’t want to mix pudding from scratch, store-bought vanilla pudding cups work as a convenient alternative.
  • These can be assembled ahead of time, but the vanilla wafers will soften over time, so for crunchier texture, assemble just before serving.
