Baked to bubbly perfection, this dish is perfect for family dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

Pasta & Cheese Mixture

  • 16 oz thin spaghetti
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 5 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream

Meat & Sauce

  • 1 lb Italian sausage, cooked
  • 1 (24-oz) jar spaghetti sauce

Topping

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside to prepare for layering.
  2. Cook Spaghetti and Mix with Eggs & Cheese: Cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain well. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, grated parmesan cheese, and melted butter. Toss this mixture with the cooked spaghetti to coat evenly. Transfer the spaghetti into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  3. Prepare Cream Cheese Layer: In a separate bowl, combine the Italian seasoning, minced garlic, softened cream cheese, and sour cream. Mix thoroughly until smooth. Spread this creamy mixture evenly over the spaghetti layer in the baking dish.
  4. Add Meat Sauce Layer: Mix the cooked Italian sausage with the jar of spaghetti sauce. Spread this savory meat sauce mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Top with Mozzarella and Bake: Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden on top.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef for Italian sausage if preferred.
  • For a lower-fat option, use reduced-fat cream cheese and mozzarella cheese.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or microwave and stored for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
  • Adding fresh basil or parsley on top before serving adds a fresh herbal note.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add red pepper flakes to the meat sauce layer.
