Ingredients

Steak and Seasonings

  • 1 lb steak, cut into small bite-size pieces
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons A1 steak sauce

Creamy Base

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup A1 steak sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Cheeses and Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack or mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup caramelized onions
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Extra cheddar cheese (for topping)
  • Fried onions or crushed crackers (for topping)
  • Additional A1 steak sauce (for drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Cook the steak bites: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak bites along with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Sear the steak for 3 to 5 minutes until browned and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Stir in Worcestershire sauce and A1 steak sauce, tossing the pieces until glossy and well coated. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Make the creamy base: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, A1 steak sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, and optional cayenne pepper. Stir until smooth and well blended.
  3. Add cheese and onions: Fold the shredded cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack or mozzarella, caramelized onions, sliced green onions, and half of the cooked steak bites into the creamy base until evenly incorporated.
  4. Transfer to a dish: Spoon the mixture into a small cast-iron skillet, baking dish, or glass dish, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Add toppings: Top the dip with the remaining steak bites, sprinkle extra cheddar cheese, fried onions or crushed crackers to add texture, and finish with a drizzle of A1 steak sauce.
  6. Bake: Place the dish in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the dip is hot, bubbly, and slightly browned on top.
  7. Finish: Remove from the oven and garnish with more sliced green onions, a sprinkle of black pepper, and an additional drizzle of A1 steak sauce for extra flavor and shine.
  8. Serve: Serve the dip hot alongside toasted bread, crackers, tortilla chips, pretzel chips, celery sticks, or roasted potatoes for dipping and sharing.

  • Use a small cast-iron skillet or any oven-safe baking dish to bake the dip evenly.
