Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 can (8 ounces) crescent roll dough

Beef Topping

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 packets taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup water

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • Shredded lettuce, as desired
  • Diced tomatoes, as desired
  • Black olives, sliced, as desired
  • Avocado slices, as desired
  • Salsa, for serving
  • Black beans, drained, as desired
  • Corn, as desired
  • Diced onions, as desired
  • Cilantro or green onion, chopped, as desired

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) to prepare for baking the crescent roll crust.
  2. Prepare crust: Open the can of crescent roll dough, unroll it, and press the dough evenly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish, creating a crust layer.
  3. Bake crust: Bake the dough in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until it turns light golden brown. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool slightly.
  4. Cook ground beef: While the crust is baking, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once fully cooked, drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  5. Season beef: Stir in one packet of taco seasoning mix and 1/4 cup water to the cooked beef. Simmer for about 5 minutes until the beef is well seasoned and cooked through.
  6. Make cream cheese mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and the second packet of taco seasoning mix. Mix thoroughly until smooth and creamy.
  7. Assemble layers: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the baked crescent dough crust. Then, layer the seasoned ground beef evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  8. Add cheese and bake: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese evenly over the beef layer. Return to the oven and bake just until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 3-5 minutes.
  9. Add toppings: Remove from oven and garnish with your favorite taco toppings, such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, black olives, avocado slices, black beans, corn, onions, cilantro or green onion, and serve with salsa on the side.

Notes

  • You can use cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a Mexican cheese blend for the topping cheese.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences or what you have on hand.
  • For a spicier version, add jalapeños or hot salsa to the toppings.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easier mixing.
  • This recipe is easily doubled or halved depending on the number of servings needed.
