Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 5 ½ cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 (11 oz) bag caramel melts
  • Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with foil and lightly spray with nonstick spray to ensure the treats can be easily removed later.
  2. Melt Butter & Caramel: Place a large pot over medium-low heat and melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, add about two-thirds of the caramel melts along with a generous pinch of flaky sea salt. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  3. Add Marshmallows: Add the mini marshmallows to the pot, reserving a small handful for topping later. Stir until the marshmallows have completely melted and the mixture is gooey.
  4. Combine with Rice Krispies: Remove the pot from heat and quickly fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, stirring until every piece is evenly coated with the caramel-marshmallow mixture.
  5. Press into Pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Let it cool for a minute or two to reduce heat, then spray your hands lightly with nonstick spray and press the mixture into an even layer.
  6. Cool & Top: Allow the bars to cool and set at room temperature. Once firm, sprinkle the reserved mini marshmallows evenly over the top.
  7. Drizzle Caramel & Salt: Melt the remaining caramel melts and drizzle the warm caramel over the marshmallows. Immediately sprinkle flaky sea salt over the caramel so it adheres well.
  8. Slice & Serve: Once everything has cooled and set completely, lift the foil out of the pan and slice into bars. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use a gentle heat to avoid burning the caramel and marshmallows while melting.
  • Lightly coating your hands with nonstick spray prevents the mixture from sticking when pressing into the pan.
  • You can substitute caramel melts with soft caramel candies melted with a splash of cream if preferred.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days for best freshness.
  • For extra crunch, consider adding chopped nuts or pretzel bits to the mixture before pressing into the pan.
