This Rich and Bold Buffalo Sauce recipe is a quick and easy way to create a flavorful, tangy, and spicy sauce perfect for wings, snacks, and more. Made with a base of melted butter, garlic and onion powders, Worcestershire sauce, white vinegar, and Frank’s hot sauce, this classic buffalo sauce is balanced with a touch of honey for subtle sweetness. Ready in just 10 minutes, it makes a perfect homemade complement for a variety of dishes.

Ingredients

Buffalo Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cups hot sauce (like Frank’s Hot Sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter: In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the unsalted butter completely. Once melted, remove the saucepan from the heat to prevent burning or separation of the butter.
  2. Whisk in Seasonings and Hot Sauce: Add the garlic powder, onion powder, honey (if using), and hot sauce to the melted butter. Whisk thoroughly to combine all ingredients into a smooth, uniform sauce. This should take about 1 minute.
  3. Add Worcestershire Sauce and Vinegar: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and white vinegar until fully incorporated. These ingredients add depth and tanginess to the sauce.
  4. Serve or Store: Use the buffalo sauce immediately as a dip or wing sauce, or transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate. It will keep well for up to 2 weeks. Warm gently before use if the butter solidifies in the fridge.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of honey to taste if you prefer a sweeter sauce or omit for a traditional buffalo flavor.
  • Use Frank’s Hot Sauce for the authentic buffalo sauce flavor, but you can substitute with any cayenne pepper-based hot sauce.
  • Warm the refrigerated sauce gently before using, as the butter will harden when cold.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness for up to two weeks.
  • This sauce is perfect for chicken wings, cauliflower bites, or as a spicy dipping sauce.
