This refreshing Lemon Smoothie blends the tangy zest and juice of fresh lemons with creamy yogurt, banana, and chia seeds for a nutritious, vibrant drink. Sweetened lightly with honey or your preferred sweetener, it’s perfect for a quick breakfast or a revitalizing snack loaded with protein and fiber.

Ingredients

Smoothie Base

  • 1 cup yogurt (Greek, regular, or dairy-free; plain or vanilla)
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
  • 12 teaspoons honey (or maple syrup, or sweetener of choice to taste)
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Extras

  • 1 cup ice
  • dash stevia extract (or monk fruit extract, optional)

Instructions

  1. Add ingredients to blender: Combine yogurt, frozen banana, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, sweetener, milk, chia seeds, and vanilla extract in a blender to start building the smoothie base with creamy and tangy flavors.
  2. Blend until smooth: Blend these ingredients thoroughly until the mixture is homogenous and creamy, ensuring the banana and yogurt are fully pureed.
  3. Add ice and blend again: Add the ice and continue blending until the smoothie becomes thick, frosty, and perfectly chilled.
  4. Adjust sweetness and consistency: Taste the smoothie and add more sweetener if desired for extra sweetness. If the smoothie is too thick, add a bit more milk to reach preferred consistency.
  5. Serve immediately: Pour the finished smoothie into a glass and enjoy right away to benefit from its fresh flavors and chilled texture.

Notes

  • You can use Greek yogurt for higher protein or dairy-free yogurt if you prefer vegan options.
  • Frozen banana helps achieve a creamy texture and cold temperature without diluting flavor.
  • Adjust lemon juice and zest according to your taste preference for tartness.
  • Honey can be replaced with maple syrup, stevia, or monk fruit extract based on dietary needs.
  • Chia seeds add fiber and omega-3s, making the smoothie more filling and nutritious.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor as the smoothie can separate if left standing.
