This Honey Garlic Salmon recipe features tender wild Atlantic salmon fillets marinated in a sweet and savory blend of honey, garlic, lemon juice, and seasoning. After marinating, the salmon is pan-seared to perfection in olive oil, creating a flavorful, juicy, and easy-to-make dish perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Salmon and Marinade

  • 18 oz. wild Atlantic salmon (cut into 3 oz. fillets)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 Tbsp honey (42g)
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until well combined, creating a flavorful marinade that balances sweetness and zest.
  2. Marinate the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets into a large resealable Ziplock bag. Pour the prepared marinade over the salmon, squeeze out as much air as possible, and seal the bag. Gently move the fillets around inside the bag to ensure all pieces are evenly coated. Lay the fillets flesh side down and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
  3. Cook the Salmon: Spray a large nonstick or cast iron skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Add the olive oil. Once hot, place the salmon fillets flesh side down in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the flesh is nicely seared and cooked through, developing a beautiful caramelized crust from the honey marinade.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overcook the salmon to keep it tender and moist.
  • You can reserve some marinade before adding the salmon and drizzle it over the cooked fish for extra flavor.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
  • If preferred, skin-on salmon can also be used; just adjust cooking time accordingly.
