A classic Green Bean Casserole Delight blending creamy mushroom soup, tender green beans, and crispy fried onions baked to golden perfection, perfect as a comforting side dish for any meal or holiday gathering.

Ingredients

Casserole Mixture

  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cans green beans, drained (14.5 oz each)

Topping

  • 1 1/2 cup French’s crispy fried onions, divided

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and whole milk, whisking until smooth. Add soy sauce and black pepper and stir to fully incorporate the flavors.
  2. Mix in Green Beans and Onions: Add the drained green beans to the sauce mixture and stir until evenly coated. Fold in 1/2 cup of the crispy fried onions gently to maintain their texture.
  3. First Bake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Pour the green bean mixture into a baking dish and bake for 30 minutes. After baking, remove from the oven and stir the mixture to ensure even cooking.
  4. Add Topping and Bake Again: Sprinkle the remaining crispy fried onions on top of the casserole. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until the onions turn golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use low-fat milk and reduced-sodium soup.
  • This casserole pairs well with roasted meats and mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
  • Make ahead option: Assemble the casserole and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.
  • Ensure to drain the canned green beans well to prevent a watery casserole.
  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free crispy fried onions and cream of mushroom soup.
