These Easy Pizza Roll Ups are a quick and delicious appetizer or snack, featuring crescent roll dough filled with pepperoni and mozzarella cheese, seasoned with oregano and red pepper flakes, then baked to golden perfection. Serve warm with marinara sauce for a crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Dough and Seasonings

  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) of crescent rolls
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter, melted and divided
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Filling

  • 48 slices pepperoni
  • 8 mozzarella cheese sticks, halved lengthwise

Optional

  • Marinara or pizza sauce for dipping
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a flat surface. Using a pastry brush, lightly coat each triangle of dough with some of the melted butter to add flavor and help the spices adhere.
  3. Add Seasonings: Evenly sprinkle dried oregano and red pepper flakes over each buttered triangle to infuse the dough with delicious Italian-inspired flavors.
  4. Fill the Roll Ups: On the wider end of each triangle, place three slices of pepperoni, then lay one half piece of mozzarella cheese stick on top of the pepperoni to create a gooey filling.
  5. Roll and Seal: Fold the sides of the dough over the pepperoni and cheese, then carefully roll the triangle up from the wide end toward the pointed tip. Pinch the seams to seal the roll-up and prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  6. Prepare for Baking: Place each roll up on the prepared baking sheet spacing them at least 2 inches apart to allow for even cooking. Brush the outside of each roll with the remaining melted butter to promote browning and a shiny finish.
  7. Bake: Bake the roll ups in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and the cheese inside is melted.
  8. Finishing Touches: Remove from oven and brush the roll ups with any leftover melted butter for extra richness. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired for a fresh herbaceous note.
  9. Serve: Serve the warm pizza roll ups with marinara or pizza sauce on the side for dipping, enhancing the flavor and enjoyment.

Notes

  • For spicier roll ups, increase the red pepper flakes or add a sprinkle of crushed chili flakes.
  • Use fresh mozzarella slices instead of cheese sticks for a different texture.
  • These roll ups are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven to retain crispiness.
  • Substitute pepperoni with cooked sausage or vegetarian toppings for variation.
  • If crescent dough is unavailable, pizza dough can be rolled and cut into triangles for a similar result.
