A decadent and easy appetizer featuring a warm, gooey wheel of Brie cheese topped with a luscious mixture of brown sugar, chopped walnuts, and coffee liqueur (Kahlua). Perfect for entertaining, this Boozy Baked Brie combines sweet, nutty, and boozy flavors served alongside crisp crackers and fresh apple slices.

Ingredients

Cheese

  • 1 round (8 ounces) Brie cheese

Topping

  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup Kahlua (coffee liqueur)

For Serving

  • Crackers and/or apple slices

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the Brie cheese into a 1/2-quart baking dish or a 9-inch pie plate to create a perfect base for baking.
  2. Make the topping: In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, brown sugar, and Kahlua. Stir until the ingredients are evenly mixed, creating a sweet and boozy topping.
  3. Assemble the Brie: Spoon the walnut, sugar, and Kahlua mixture evenly over the surface of the Brie cheese, ensuring full coverage for maximum flavor infusion.
  4. Bake the Brie: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the Brie is softened and gooey. Monitor closely to prevent burning of the sauce and nuts.
  5. Serve warm: Remove from oven and use a spoon to redistribute the melted topping over the cheese. Serve immediately with crackers and/or apple slices for dipping.

Notes

  • Keep a close watch during baking to prevent the topping from burning.
  • Brie can be served with a variety of dippers such as crusty bread, pretzels, or fresh fruit slices in addition to apples and crackers.
  • For a milder alcohol flavor, reduce the Kahlua slightly or substitute with coffee extract.
  • Make sure the Brie is at room temperature before baking for even melting.
  • Walnuts can be substituted with pecans or almonds for different nutty flavors.
