White Castle Sliders are mini cheeseburgers inspired by the classic fast-food chain, featuring seasoned ground beef patties cooked with onions and served on soft dinner rolls with melted American cheese, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. These sliders offer a delicious, nostalgic bite-sized meal perfect for parties or quick family dinners.

Ingredients

For the Patties

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Better Than Bouillon beef
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup water
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper

For Assembly

  • 12 dinner rolls, cut in half
  • 10 to 12 Kraft American cheese slices, each slice cut into 4 squares
  • 20 to 24 dill pickle chips
  • Ketchup, as desired
  • Mustard, as desired

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ground Beef Mixture: In a bowl, combine the ground beef, Better Than Bouillon beef, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly to incorporate the seasoning evenly throughout the meat.
  2. Cook the Onions: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the finely chopped yellow onions until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add Water and Simmer: Add ¼ cup of water to the cooked onions in the skillet. Bring to a simmer, then add the beef mixture, salt, and black pepper. Crumble the beef into small pieces and cook everything together until the beef is fully browned and cooked through, and most of the water has evaporated. This ensures the patty mixture is juicy and flavorful, closely mimicking the texture of White Castle sliders.
  4. Preheat the Oven or Prepare Assembly Area: While the beef mixture cooks, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) if you plan to melt the cheese in the oven.
  5. Assemble the Sliders: Lay out the bottom halves of the dinner rolls. Spoon the cooked beef and onion mixture evenly over each bottom bun, making sure to spread it to the edges for that signature slider look and taste.
  6. Add Cheese and Pickles: Place cheese squares over the hot beef mixture on each slider so the cheese melts slightly. Top with 1 or 2 dill pickle chips per slider.
  7. Complete with Condiments and Tops: Add ketchup and mustard to taste on the inside of the top buns, then place them on top of each slider.
  8. Warm the Sliders: Place the assembled sliders on a baking sheet and warm in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted and the rolls are slightly toasted.
  9. Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm for the best taste and texture experience.

Notes

  • Using Better Than Bouillon beef adds depth of flavor but can be substituted with beef broth or bouillon powder if unavailable.
  • Cutting cheese slices into quarters helps distribute cheese evenly on the small slider patties.
  • Adjust the number of sliders based on appetite; one slider typically counts as a single serving.
  • You can prepare the beef mixture a day in advance and refrigerate to save time on serving day.
  • For spicier sliders, add a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the beef mixture before cooking.
