Indulge in the decadent delight of this Reese’s Peanut Butter Earthquake Cake. A heavenly fusion of rich chocolate cake, velvety peanut butter, luscious chocolate chips, and delightful Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, this cake is a true treat for the senses.

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients needed to prepare (eggs, oil, water)

For the Peanut Butter Layer:

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, halved

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch glass baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Mix Cake Batter: Prepare the chocolate cake mix as per package instructions and pour it into the prepared baking dish (do not bake yet).
  3. Prepare Peanut Butter Layer: In a large bowl, beat together the melted butter and softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the peanut butter and vanilla extract, beating until smooth. Gradually add and mix in the powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Layer and Bake: Spoon the peanut butter mixture over the unbaked cake batter. Sprinkle the chocolate chips and halved peanut butter cups over the peanut butter layer. Bake for 45-55 minutes until the center is set. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature for a smoother mixture.
  • Decorate with additional peanut butter cups for a more indulgent presentation.
