Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwiches combine gooey melted cheese, crispy bread, and pizza toppings like marinara sauce and pepperoni, all in a grilled cheese sandwich form.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread (sourdough or hearty bread)
  • 4 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 slices pepperoni
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Butter one side of each slice of bread. The buttered side will be the outside of the sandwich.
  2. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the non-buttered side of four slices of bread.
  3. Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce, followed by cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan.
  4. Add pepperoni slices on top of the cheese.
  5. Sprinkle a pinch of dried oregano and garlic powder (optional) for extra flavor.
  6. Top each sandwich with the remaining four slices of bread, buttered side up.
  7. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  8. Once both sides are crispy and the cheese is fully melted, remove from the skillet, slice, and serve hot.

Notes

  • This recipe makes 4 sandwiches, perfect for 2-4 servings.
  • Store leftovers tightly wrapped in plastic wrap or foil in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet or oven to maintain the crispy texture.
  • Vegetarian version: Skip the pepperoni and add extra veggies like mushrooms, olives, or spinach.
