Buttery, crispy and golden brown on the outside with melted cheddar cheese and thinly sliced pickle inside, this pickle grilled cheese sandwich is a delicious twist on a classic favorite. Perfect for pickle lovers and grilled cheese enthusiasts alike!

Ingredients

For the Sandwich:

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons butter, approximately (or use margarine)
  • 4 slices sandwich bread (like sourdough), or your favorite variety
  • 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese, divided (about 1 cup)
  • 2 kosher dill pickles, thinly sliced and patted dry of excess moisture with a paper towel
  • pinch dried dill (dill weed)
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce, optional (such as Sriracha)

Instructions

  1. Spread the butter on both sides of the bread slices. Adjust the amount of butter based on personal preference.
  2. On two slices of bread, add half of the cheddar cheese, dried dill, sliced pickles, and hot sauce.
  3. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and cover with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
  4. Cook the sandwiches in a skillet until golden brown and crispy on both sides, ensuring the cheese is melted inside.
  5. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to use your preferred melting cheese, such as Gouda, mozzarella, or provolone.
  • Pat dry the pickles to prevent the sandwich from becoming soggy.
  • Monitor the heat to achieve the perfect golden brown crust without burning.
