These homemade apple fritters are warm, crispy, and sweet, making them the perfect fall treat. A nostalgic favorite passed down from my mom, these fritters are made with fresh apples and coated in a delightful cinnamon sugar mixture.

Ingredients

For the Apple Fritters:

  • 1 quart vegetable oil for deep-frying
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cups apples – peeled, cored and chopped

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 1 cup cinnamon-sugar

Instructions

  1. Gather the ingredients: Heat oil in a deep fryer or electric skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, beaten eggs, and vegetable oil, stirring until well combined.
  3. Add the apples: Fold in the chopped apples until evenly distributed in the batter.
  4. Fry the fritters: Working in small batches, drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown all over, approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Coat with cinnamon sugar: Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fritters to a paper towel-lined plate. Toss the warm fritters in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Indulge in these delicious apple fritters while still warm for the best flavor!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of nutmeg or cloves to the batter.
  • Be careful when frying to maintain a consistent oil temperature for perfectly crisp fritters.
