Honey Garlic Chicken is a quick and flavorful skillet recipe featuring tender chicken breasts cooked in a luscious honey garlic sauce, perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner served alongside rice, potatoes, or vegetables.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1 to 1 1/4 lb. Chicken Breast (about 4 thinly sliced breasts or 2 large sliced in half)
  • Salt and Pepper (sprinkle on both sides of chicken)
  • 1/4 cup Flour

Sauce & Cooking

  • 4 Tablespoons Salted Butter
  • 3 Garlic Cloves (minced)
  • 1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 1/3 cup Honey (plus more for drizzling, if desired)

Instructions

  1. Season and Prepare Chicken: Generously sprinkle thinly sliced chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides to enhance flavor.
  2. Coat and Sear Chicken: Dredge both sides of the chicken breasts in flour, shaking off excess. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoons of butter, and melt. Place the floured chicken in the hot skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Add Sauce Ingredients and Cook: Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Then add apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Allow the sauce to simmer and thicken for 3-4 minutes, ensuring the chicken is fully cooked through and no longer pink inside.
  4. Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and coat the chicken thoroughly with the sauce. Serve immediately with your choice of rice, potatoes, or vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Make sure chicken is cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) for safe consumption.
  • Use thinly sliced chicken breasts for quicker cooking and tender results.
  • You can drizzle extra honey over the chicken before serving for added sweetness.
  • Substitute soy sauce with tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • For a lower-fat version, use less butter or substitute with olive oil.
