A healthy and crunchy homemade rice krispie treats recipe for dogs, made with peanut butter and coconut oil, offering a nutritious twist without sugar or marshmallows. Ideal for daily rewards or training snacks.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups unsweetened puffed rice cereal
  • ½ cup homemade dog-safe peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Dish: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly grease with coconut oil. Set aside.
  2. Melt Peanut Butter and Coconut Oil: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the peanut butter and coconut oil, stirring until smooth and combined.
  3. Add Flaxseed and Cinnamon: Add ground flaxseed and cinnamon if using, and stir into the melted mixture.
  4. Combine with Cereal: In a large bowl, add puffed rice cereal. Pour the melted mixture over it and gently fold until all cereal is coated.
  5. Set in Dish: Transfer the mixture into the prepared dish and press it down firmly using parchment paper or a spatula to ensure it’s compact.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
  7. Cut and Serve: Lift the mixture out using parchment paper, and cut into small, bite-sized squares.
