Delicious hamburger steaks in a creamy dill sauce, a hearty and flavorful dish that is perfect for a cozy dinner at home. Juicy ground beef patties are seared to perfection and then smothered in a rich and creamy sauce infused with the fresh taste of dill.

Ingredients

Hamburger Steaks:

  • 1.3 pounds ground beef
  • 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 yellow onion (grated)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Creamy Dill Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp chopped dill (more for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepping: Start with making the hamburger steaks. Grate the onion into a large bowl. Add ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, cream, and egg. Mix until combined. Shape into 4 patties. Set aside.
  2. Chopping: Finely chop the diced onion, mince the garlic, and chop the dill.
  3. Searing: Heat oil and butter in a skillet. Cook patties 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet.
  4. Cooking: Add garlic, onion, salt, pepper, and flour to skillet. Stir in broth and simmer. Add cream and dill. Simmer until thickened.
  5. Simmering: Return patties to skillet. Simmer until heated through. Finish with dill and black pepper. Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can serve the hamburger steaks with mashed potatoes or over egg noodles for a complete meal.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of dill in the sauce to suit your taste preferences.
