Ingredients

For the Garlic Oil:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Toast:

  • 2 large ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 4 slices of crusty bread (such as sourdough or ciabatta)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the garlic oil: In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. Brush the bread: Brush one side of each slice of bread with the garlic oil mixture.
  4. Bake the bread: Place the bread slices on a baking sheet, oil side up, and bake for about 5 minutes until golden.
  5. Add toppings: Layer tomato slices on the bread, sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake again: Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted.
