Main Ingredients

  • Fresh Okra Pods (about 2-4 inches long, bright green and firm)
  • Pepper Jack Cheese
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Eggs
  • Cornmeal or Breadcrumbs (use your favorite)
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Cooking Oil for Frying (Vegetable oil, canola oil, or peanut oil)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Okra: Wash and dry okra pods, trim off stem ends, make a lengthwise slit, and stuff with cheese.
  2. Set Up Breading Station: Prepare dishes with seasoned flour, whisked eggs, and seasoned cornmeal or breadcrumbs.
  3. Bread Okra: Dredge okra in flour, dip in eggs, coat with cornmeal/breadcrumbs.
  4. Fry Okra: Heat oil, fry breaded okra until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve: Drain fried okra on paper towels and serve hot.
