Tender steak bites cooked in a flavorful au jus sauce in the crockpot, perfect for serving over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.

Ingredients

Steak Bites:

  • 3 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil

Au Jus Sauce:

  • 1 small sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup unsalted beef stock
  • 1 1 ounce packet au jus gravy mix
  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, thinly sliced

Garnish:

  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: Toss cubed steak with salt and pepper in a large bowl.
  2. Sear the Steak: In a skillet, sear steak pieces in batches, then transfer to the slow cooker.
  3. Add Ingredients: Add onion, garlic, beef stock, au jus mix, and butter to the slow cooker.
  4. Cook: Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Round steak, stew meat, or chuck roast can be used as alternatives.
  • Searing is optional but enhances flavor.
  • Substitute unsalted beef broth for beef stock if necessary.
