This Ranch Chicken Crock Pot recipe is a comforting and easy slow-cooked meal perfect for busy days. Tender chicken breasts are simmered in a creamy ranch-flavored sauce made with cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and a blend of savory spices. Optional searing of the chicken adds depth of flavor, and shredded cheddar cheese with fresh parsley make for a delightful finishing touch. This dish serves four and pairs well with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional for searing)

Sauce & Seasonings

  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Optional Garnish

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Optional Searing: If desired, heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sear the chicken breasts on both sides until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. This step adds extra flavor but can be skipped.
  2. Prepare Sauce: In the crockpot, combine the cream of chicken soup, ranch seasoning mix, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir well to create a smooth sauce mixture.
  3. Add Chicken: Place the chicken breasts into the crockpot and spoon the sauce mixture over and around them, coating the chicken thoroughly.
  4. Cook: Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-7 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Shred Chicken: Once cooked, remove the chicken breasts and shred them using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir it into the creamy sauce for an even mix.
  6. Finish with Sour Cream: Stir in the sour cream to add richness and creaminess to the dish.
  7. Garnish and Serve: If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy hot over your favorite side.

Notes

  • Skipping the optional searing step reduces prep time but searing enhances flavor and texture.
  • You can use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier twist.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, especially if your ranch seasoning mix contains salt.
  • This recipe can be doubled for larger groups—adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be reheated gently on the stovetop or microwave.
