Cinnamon Sugar Cream Cheese Rolls are a delightful treat combining warm pastry, sweet cream cheese filling, and a cinnamon sugar coating. Easy to make with store-bought crescent dough or homemade yeast dough, these rolls are creamy inside, golden outside, and utterly irresistible.

Ingredients

Shortcut Version (with Crescent Rolls or Puff Pastry):

  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (or puff pastry sheet)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Homemade Dough Option:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Make the Filling – In a bowl, beat softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth and fluffy. Set aside.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Dough – For shortcut method: Roll out crescent roll dough or use homemade dough option. For homemade dough, prepare yeast mixture, add flour, salt, egg, and butter, knead, and let rise.
  3. Step 3: Assemble the Rolls – Place cream cheese mixture in the center of each dough piece, fold over, and roll into a ball or log.
  4. Step 4: Bake or Air Fry – Bake in oven or air fry until golden.
  5. Step 5: Coat in Cinnamon Sugar – Brush with melted butter, toss in cinnamon sugar.

Notes

  • Seal edges tightly to prevent filling leakage.
  • Work with chilled dough for easier shaping.
  • Do not overfill the rolls.
  • Best served warm for maximum enjoyment.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge, reheat before serving.
