Ingredients

Doughnut Balls:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg (optional, for flavor)
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for deep frying

Coating:

  • 1/2 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Dough Preparation: In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. Wet Mixture: In another bowl, beat egg, then add milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla. Mix well.
  3. Combining Ingredients: Gradually add wet mixture into dry ingredients. Mix until you get a thick batter (not runny, but scoopable).
  4. Deep Frying: Heat oil in a deep pan to 160–170°C (325–340°F). Keep flame on medium. Scoop small portions and gently drop into hot oil. Fry in batches.
  5. Frying Process: Fry until puffed and golden brown on all sides (about 3–5 minutes). Turn occasionally for even cooking.
  6. Coating: Remove doughnut balls and drain on paper towels. While warm, roll them in sugar to coat.
