Ingredients

Dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt

Butter Block:

  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter

Egg Wash:

  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: Mix warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it foam for 5–10 minutes.
  2. Dough: Combine with flour and salt, knead for 5–7 minutes. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Butter Block: Pound or roll butter into a 6×6” square. Chill.
  4. Laminate: Wrap butter in dough, roll out, fold in thirds. Chill. Repeat this process 3 times.
  5. Shape: Roll dough thin, cut into triangles, and roll into crescents.
  6. Proof: Let the croissants rise for 1–2 hours until puffy.
  7. Bake: Brush with egg wash and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes.

Notes

  • For best results, use cold butter and handle the dough gently.
  • You can freeze unbaked croissants for later use.
