A delightful Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bake that combines the gooey sweetness of cinnamon rolls with the comforting texture of French toast. Perfect for a special breakfast or brunch, this bake is easy to prepare and baked to golden perfection, topped with a sweet drizzle of icing and maple syrup.

Ingredients

Cinnamon Rolls

  • 2 cans (12.4 oz each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls

Custard Mixture

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Toppings

  • Included cinnamon roll icing (from the cans)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cinnamon Rolls: Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters for even baking and place all pieces evenly in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, ensuring they are spread out to form the base layer.
  2. Make the Custard Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract until fully combined and smooth. This mixture will soak into the cinnamon rolls, creating a rich and flavorful custard.
  3. Combine and Bake: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 25 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  4. Add the Toppings: Remove the bake from the oven and immediately drizzle the included cinnamon roll icing from the cans over the top, followed by the maple syrup. Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Make sure to grease the baking dish well to prevent sticking.
  • For a richer flavor, allow the cinnamon rolls to soak in the custard mixture for 10-15 minutes before baking.
  • This dish can be prepared the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
  • Use pure maple syrup for the best taste, or substitute with honey or agave nectar if preferred.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven for a few minutes to restore crispness.
