This one-bowl Chocolate Banana Applesauce Cake is made without oil or butter, creating a moist and flavorful treat that’s perfect for snacking or as a light dessert.

Ingredients

Banana Mixture:

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tsp white vinegar

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Additional:

  • 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Prepare Baking Dish: Spray an 8×8 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  3. Mix Banana Mixture: In a medium bowl, mash the bananas. Stir in granulated sugar, brown sugar, applesauce, water, and white vinegar until well combined.
