Cheesy Chicken Crescent Bake is a comforting and easy-to-make casserole featuring tender cooked chicken wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough, smothered with a creamy, flavorful sauce and topped with melted cheddar cheese. Perfect for a quick family dinner, this dish combines convenience with cheesy, savory goodness baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped (rotisserie works great)
  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls (8-count)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Garnish

  • Chopped parsley for a pop of color

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set it aside to prepare for baking your casserole.
  2. Fill the Crescents: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into individual triangles. Place a spoonful of cooked chicken along with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese at the wide end of each triangle. Roll up each crescent starting from the wide end towards the point, ensuring the filling is enclosed inside. Arrange these rolled crescents seam side down in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Pour this creamy sauce evenly over the crescents in the baking dish.
  4. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the sauce-covered crescents, which will create a delicious golden cheese layer when baked.
  5. Bake It Up: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the sauce is bubbling around the edges. Once done, allow the casserole to cool for about 5 minutes before serving to let the sauce thicken slightly.

Notes

  • Using rotisserie chicken saves time and adds great flavor.
  • Grease the baking dish well to prevent sticking.
  • You can substitute cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese for variety.
  • Allow the dish to cool before serving to avoid burns and improve sauce consistency.
  • For added freshness, garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
