These cabbage fritters are a delightful and easy-to-make snack or side dish that’s perfect for any occasion. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they are packed with the goodness of cabbage, carrots, and aromatic spices.

Ingredients

Cabbage Fritters:

  • 16 oz shredded cabbage
  • 2 medium-small carrots (grated)
  • 23 scallions (or 1 regular onion)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 45 tbsp flour (see notes for gluten-free or grain-free)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (ground)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (or smoked paprika)
  • 1/2 tsp coriander (ground, optional)
  • 34 tbsp fat for frying (ghee or oil of your choice)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Wash and cut all ingredients.
  2. Shred the cabbage: Use a mandoline slicer for fine shreds, about 16 oz or 7 packed cups.
  3. Thinly slice scallions: Or chop a regular onion.
  4. Grate the carrots: Use a box grater.
  5. Mince the garlic: Use a grater or mince finely.
  6. Combine all ingredients: In a large bowl, mix all prepared ingredients gently to coat with egg.
  7. Shape the fritters and fry: Heat a skillet, form fritters, and fry until golden and crispy on both sides.

Notes

  • The fritter mixture may seem loose initially but will hold together during frying.
