Enjoy a fun twist on traditional fries with these delicious Apple Wedge Fries. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar blend, these fries are a delightful treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Apples:

  • 4 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp preferred)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

Batter:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Other:

  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice and Prep Apples: Slice apples into wedges, leaving the skin on, and drizzle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Coating: In a bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. Create Batter: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and water until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Fry Apple Wedges: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Dip apple wedges in batter and fry in batches until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Coat and Serve: Toss fried apple wedges in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Optionally dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, try baking the apple wedges instead of frying.
  • Experiment with different spices in the cinnamon sugar coating for unique flavor variations.
