- 6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 6 medium apples)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup old-fashioned oats
- ⅓ cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and vanilla extract; spread into a greased 8×8‑inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, and the remaining ½ tsp cinnamon.
- Add cold cubed butter into the dry mixture; use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work it in until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the topping is golden and apples are bubbling.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- You can substitute half the oats with chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans.
- Adjust sugar to taste depending on the sweetness of your apples.
- To prevent sogginess, let assembled dish rest 10–15 minutes before baking.
- Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat before serving.
